A Chartered Accountant by profession, Mr. Kwame Awuah Asante is the National Treasurer of the Ghana Co-operative Credit Unions Association (CUA). As the Chairman of the Western Chapter of CUA, Mr. Asante represents the Western Chapter on the Board of CUA, while his mother society is the ROAA Co-operative Credit Union (ROAACCU) which is located at Agona Nkwanta in the Ahanta West Metropolitan Area.  His society is one formed by rubber outgrowers and agents in the Western and Central Regions of Ghana. He is the current and founding Chairman of ROAACCU.

He is a former Financial Controller of Ghana Rubber Estates Limited (GREL), the leading producer and processor of natural rubber in Ghana, operating in the Western, Central and Eastern Regions. In the year 2001, Mr. Asante resigned his appointment and went into private practice, setting up K. A. Consulting Services, a Takoradi-based firm of Chartered Accountants and Management Consultants. Prior to joining GREL in 1989, Mr. Asante had acquired vast experience in Accounting, Auditing, Taxation, Finance, and related disciplines, over a period of more than fifteen years.

From 2005 to 2014, Mr. Asante was a Director of Ahantaman Rural Bank Ltd – the first five years as the Vice Chairman, and the last four, as the substantive Board Chairman. Between 2012 and 2014, he was the National Vice President of the Association of Rural Banks (ARB).

From 2011 to 2019, Mr. Asante was the Chairman of the Rubber Outgrowers and Agents Association. Other positions he has held include President of Takoradi Sports Club (2012 to 2016) and President of the General Assembly of Alliance Francaise de Takoradi (2009 to date).

Having retired from rigorous daily routine work, Mr. Asante is now engaged in practising his lifelong passion – agriculture – where he cultivates tree crops such as rubber, oil palm, cocoa and kola, in addition to various food crops.

Married with grown-up children, Mr. Asante’s hobbies include walking, swimming, and playing golf.
